The sweet spot.

The days are longer, our energy is higher, and things are happening.  Having grown up on the east coast where summers meant long and lazy days; it’s most certainly a shift being in Anchorage where everyone scarfs up every last bit of dailylight in these days.

As life happens, change unfolds, and things are constantly moving – I’m realizing the extreme importance of feeling balanced and how to find it.  Here at the salon we have Chakra’s and as I’ve looked more into these I have found a greater root as to where balance can come from in the different aspects of our lives.

“Chakras are spinning wheels of energy located along the spine, from the tailbone to the crown of the head. Ayurveda, (Aveda’s Philosophy) reconginzes seven main chakra energy centers, each emitting a different color and vibrating at a different frequency.

The chakra energy centers are junctions between consciousness (mind) and matter (body). They link the various aspects of what makes us human: our physical, energetic, emotional, mental, social and spiritual selves.

The state of each chakra has significant effects on one’s health. When chakra energy flows are blocked, one experiences diminished health.

When one focuses on the charkas, one can connect to any mental, emotional and physical imbalances occurring within the charkas.”

7 Chakras – all a different point in your body.

Chakra 1- is at the base of your trunk.  That’s where we are grounded and take care of our basic needs.

Chakra 2- is between your hips.  We move beyond our basic needs and into relationships with others.

Chakra 3- is between our lungs. This is the center of motivation. This is where we set our motivations and desires.

Chakra 4- is our heart. Here lies sympathy, empathy and love.

Chakra 5- is in our throat. Creativity, self expression, and communication can be found here.

Chakra 6 –  is in our brain.  This is the center of intuition, imagination, and perception.

Chakra 7 – is above our head.  This is where we connect with something greater than ourself, expressing wisdom, tapping into our spirituality.

Our main mission at Meg Allen Salon is to have everyone leave here feeling like they’ve never felt better; all 7 Chakras colorfully humming away.  Balanced, whole, beautiful, and just plain good.  We all have those people in our lives that we walk away from feeling like a million bucks, and we honestly just want to be a place like that for you.

So if you’re having an off day, if Chakra 6 is a little too far to the right and you can’t seem to get a hold of Chakra 3 – do what you need to do to get there.   If it means pulling out the Kitchen Aid and baking balance back in – than do it.  If it means driving around with your dog hanging out the window, totally jamming out to a Michelle Branch cd – do it.  If it means rolling out of bed and hitting play on a yogadownload podcast – do it.   We all deserve it – and we all know how good it feels to be there...To be in that sweet spot where things are how they were always intended to be.

AWAIC Summer Solstice Festival

We had a booth at the Summer Solstice Festival this past weekend. It was great to participate in the event that benefitted the AWAIC (Abused Women Aid in Crisis) center.
We were able to talk to a lot of people about the salon and sold a lot of jewelry, organic cotton scarves, and handmade bags.
Our boutique in the salon has made the commitment to only carry handmade items to support independent artists.

Thanks to everyone who stopped by to say hello! We had a great time.

Oceans Festival was a big success!

We had a great time at The Oceans Festival this past weekend. The morning started out a bit chilly, but as the festival started the sun broke through the clouds and stayed out ALL day.
There was non-stop live music all afternoon and evening. Bands like Full Sail, Rabbit Creek Ramblers, Last Train , Sweating Honey and Pimps of Joytime.

Our booth was right in the main walkway and directly across from the Moose's Tooth "beer garden" which made for some fun entertainment!
It was very exciting to see such a big crowd and enjoy being outside all day long!

The turnout was GREAT! We are all happy for a sunny summer. We deserve it after last year!

Thanks for a great Saturday on the Park Strip!
